At Blazing Griffin, I gained a much better understanding of how the industry works and what it takes to be a good designer. I received industry talks from the team members of all disciplines within the company that extended all the way from QA to Design to Production management and what I can do following University to be on the level I want to be in regards to Game Design.

 

During my time at Blazing Griffin, I was a QA Tester where I worked very closely with the designers and is where I gained a lot of experience with JIRA.

I then returned to Blazing Griffin as a Junior Designer, where I took on more responsibility for numerous projects within the studio.

I am very grateful for my time at Blazing Griffin and I am proud to say I received a credit for "Murder Mystery Machine" as a QA Tester, when I was only in the second year of my studies.

My first ever game as a designer was also with Blazing Griffin, "Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot: The First Cases

Our submission for the D&AD New Blood Awards 2020 was the only Graphite Pencil winner for the RARE and Xbox brief. 

Although only a concept, our submission, "Murder at the Manor", was recognised as a strong foundation for a game that allows players to create stories together. 

With this win, the team have been invited to attend the winners event down in London. This event will hold workshops and networking oppurtunites.

Focus games are a company that centers around serious games that help to reach, teach and persuade.

 

Here, I assisted in the game development of not only digital games, but board games too. I was able to work on projects that tackle the issues of Sepsis, the recognition and diversity of the LGBT+ community, and the benefits to the HPV vaccine.

 

I learned a lot about the demand for serious games in numerous different fields and how the business side of the industry works.

I'm very grateful for the experience that Focus Games was able to give me. 

Studying Computer Games Design at Glasgow Caledonian University, where I am also the Class Rep and only Design Chairperson for the Game Dev Society.
