ABOUT

BAFTA winning Game Designer and D&AD New Bloods 2020 Graphite Pencil Winner

I am a passionate and enthusiastic Junior Level Designer with the Newcastle based game studio, Ubisoft Reflections. It is here that I have the responsibility of providing fun and engaging levels and content for our games, which release on PC, Mac, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, Mobile and VR.

I am also a high achieving Computer Games Design student from Glasgow Caledonian University who meets or exceeds what is expected of him. I was offered a position at the end of my third year of university after securing a degree with the Glasgow-based studio Blazing Griffin, but wanted to continue my studies to a higher level. I am proud to say I successfully balanced a full-time career as a designer, but also a part-time Honours course for Computer Games Design. It is at Blazing Griffin that my first credited game as a QA tester was nominated for Scottish BAFTA's Game of the Year 2021, and my first credited game as a designer won the Scottish BAFTA's Game of the Year 2022.

My career and University course has give me the platform to be the confident, committed, and pro-active individual I consider myself to be. I spend a lot of time further studying my academic skills learned from the industry to help master my already exceptional technique set. I do this by attending Game Jams, Game In-sight Talks and workshops, and producing content for my online portfolio through online courses and personal passion projects. Furthermore, I was asked to return to my university, but this time at a teaching capacity as a Games Demonstrator. I tutored and mentored third year students for their end of year projects, in which they all came together to create a game for a client. I would consult and solicit advise to the students with our weekly meetings, but also in the tutorials class in which I taught and provided insight into design philosophy and the industry itself.

When given any task or coursework, I recognise myself as an individual with an eye for detail and perfection and I believe in always producing the best quality of product or material that I have to offer. I have an extensive background in problem-solving which is highlighted through my initial course of Mechanical and Electrical Systems Engineering.

Whether it be a group project, an individual report, or my work ethic, I have been recognised to adapt to any situation within the working environment.

I have strong experience within the industry, but I'm always looking for more. I am very eager and passionate about the games industry so I am always looking to get involved whenever the opportunity arises.
